Part two of a series on the importance of auto repair explores your vehicle’s power train.
What is a Power Train?
What is a power train? In modern cars a power train is a set of components including the drive train, the engine, and the transmission. Basically, without a power train, your car is a very expensive paperweight or modern art sculpture in your driveway or garage. You won’t be able to drive your motor vehicle or at the very least, it won’t drive well without a power train in need of repair.
A lot of warranties cover power train repairs, which is a good thing because a lot of these sort of repair jobs are usually the most expensive ones all around. A transmission repair for example can easily top $3000, more for a custom job or a higher end vehicle. However, while the drive train and the transmission are obviously important, the most important component of a power train is obviously the engine.
Auto Repair: Fix the Engine and Fix Most Car Problems
The average car has thousands of parts, but did you know that most auto repair happens in the engine first. It makes sense if you think about it. For one, your car’s engine is the biggest collection of moving parts, all of which can suffer wear and tear.
The best way to prevent car problems is to be proactive about your car. As cars hit mileage markers parts start to go out. For example, when you change a belt, it is usually after a period of either years and/or miles. You want to follow your car’s service manual as closely as possible. And you want to get your car in to an auto repair shop in Mesa at the first sign of any problems.
