The modern car is a lot more complex than its predecessors. In more than a century of automobiles, care have gone from simple machines with a few dozen parts to complex engineering marvels with thousands of parts. A modern car for example, has over 30,000 parts. One part that is very important in your car is your car’s serpentine belt. A serpentine belt is a toothed metal and rubber belt that is a driving belt for your car. If it breaks, it can be one of the most expensive repairs around, just as a timing belt can be.

Most cars have fewer belts than their predecessors which is good, however, as one or two belts control almost everything that goes on in the engine, it’s recommended that you get your belts checked every 30,000 miles as part of regular service. Your timing belt should be replaced between 60,000 and 90,000 miles. But what about hoses?

Hoses in Your Car’s Engine

Your car usually has a few hoses. Most are connected to the radiator, however, you also have hoses with your fuel pump and other systems. Every time you get an oil change, your hoses should be checked. If the hose is too hard or too soft should be replaced. If you find any cracks, or other signs of damage on a hose, you’re going to need to replace the hose as well. Unless you have a lot of auto repair skills, your best bet is to contact an auto repair shop in Mesa to check your hoses.

It’s best to be proactive about fixing your car. Just as our bodies do better if a problem is diagnosed early, the same holds true for cars as well. So, every few thousand miles, it would be a good idea to get your car into a trustworthy auto repair shop to stop a problem when it is cheap and a simple fix.

This concludes part one of our series on the importance of auto repair. Be sure to read part two and part three as well.
