Oil Change Myth #3: Sythentic Oil is Not as Good Get Your Oil Change Done Today Here’s another common oil change myth: synthetic oil is not as good as old-fashioned motor oil. Actually, synthetic oil lasts a considerably longer time than regular motor oil does. On the other side of the debate, some people think that synthetic oil is healthier for the environment than motor oil as it is not a petroleum product. If you get an oil change done with synthetic motor oil, it is better for the environment, but not because of its chemical composition.
